General Assistance
The Town of Tremont administers a General Assistance program for the support of the poor. Pursuant to 22 MRS 4305, the Selectboard have adopted an ordinance establishing that program. A copy of this ordiance and the State's General Asistance Statutes, is available here for public inspection.
Persons wishing to apply for General Assistance may do so Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In an emergency, applicants may contact the Hancock County Regional Communications Center dispatcher, who will locate an appropriate General Assistance Administrator (207) 667-8866.
The Tremont General Assistance administrator will issue a written decision within 24 hours of receiving a complete application.
