Deputy Code Enforcement Officer

The Town of Tremont is seeking qualified candidates for the full time position of Deputy Code Enforcement Officer / Licensed Plumbing Inspector. This position is responsible for inspections of plumbing and enforcement of all local codes and land use regulations, and serves as the 911 Addressing Officer. This position is contracted out for 20 hours per week to the Town of Southwest Harbor. The Deputy CEO must have the ability to interact with the public professionally in order to secure compliance.  Customer service, education, and violation prevention are a primary responsibility.

The Deputy CEO is expected to carry out their responsibilities with initiative, independence, and confidentiality while exercising good problem-solving skills and professional judgment.  Applicant must be certified or become certified as a Code Enforcement Officer/LPI within 12 months. In addition to required State certifications, the candidate must have a valid Class C State of Maine driver’s license, a good driving record, and a vehicle available for job use.

The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; excellent record keeping ability; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a full time position and pay is negotiable based on qualifications.
